What’s On My iPhone
I’ve had an iPhone 3G for about 4 months now and so far it’s been my favorite mobile device that I’ve used over the years. In the past I’ve used 4-5 different Blackberry models and then an HTC 8525 smartphone before I picked up the iPhone.
One of the things I like about the iPhone is the ease of installing applications through the Apps Store on iTunes. I’ve already installed/uninstalled a bunch of apps on my device over the last few months. I won’t geek out all the way and list my current apps by page or by ranking. Here they are in no particular order:
Sportacular
Provides up to the minute sports scores, stats, schedules, etc. This is great when you are stuck in the grocery store and wan to sweat your fantasy football players.

Facebook
The popular (and time sucking) social networking application formatted for the iPhone. I’ve found that I can’t access all my Facebook apps (like time wasting Mob Wars) through this.

The Weather Channel
A much better interface for tracking weather than the built-in app. More detailed forecasting plus severe weather alerts and much more.

Twitterrific
Another popular and addictive social networking app formatted for the iPhone. A fully functional way to access and update Twitter.

Sol Free Solitaire
5 free games -Klondike Deal 1, Klondike Deal 3, Baker’s Game, Demon and Spiderette. Nothing fancy here but for some reason I’m addicted to Klondike Deal 3. I think it’s the stats they keep for wins/losses that keeps me coming back.

Koi Pond
A pond with koi swimming around. You can run finger across the screen and create ripples in the water. Shake the iPhone to feed the fish and stick your finger in the water and they nibble. The little kids love this.

LED Football
Awesome! An exact replica of an electronic handheld football game I used to play for hours when I was a kid.

Mazefinger
Use your finger to make your way through a bunch of different mazes before time runs out. Cool special effects. Another one the kiddos enjoy.

Shazam
I installed this after seeing it highlighted in an iPhone commercial. When you hear a song and don’t know the name, you can start this program and it will tell you the artist and title.

I’ve used a bunch more but right now these are the only ones on my iPhone. So what other apps should I look at installing?

Yahoo oneConnect – very nice app.
Pandora radio
MLB.com At Bat (wait til spring)
Google Earth
Mocha VNC (handy remoting app)
Apple remote – almost as cool as Shazam.
Showtimes – location aware movie listings
Urban Spoon.
YP Mobile (yellow pages mobile – location aware, very handy)
I bought the Apple Poker game. It’s fun for a poker degenerate but the bots suck.
I’d also recommend myLite Flashlight. Having a flashlight can be very handy.
Cool, thanks for the list.
