Blog: Steve O’s Poker Blog
Q: How did you get into poker ?
G: I used to play card games with my family camping when I was little, it progressed to standard dealers choice games through high school and college. I started playing nearly weekly in the 2001/2 time frame. The current phase of tourney poker started 3 or 4 years ago with Mookie and some other Austin based co-workers.
Q: Do you have any poker related goals and if so what are they ?
G: Currently I am on a Sit-n-Go goal/challenge to elevate to the larger games. At this point I would really like to be able to pay my truck payment with poker winnings every month.
Q: Who would be at your 6-handed SNG ?
G: My buddy Steve from Seattle, Dr. Pauly, Doyle Brunson, Ernest Hemingway, Dalene Kurtis (ooo la la, probably NSFW), and myself (duh).
Q: What is your favorite online poker site ?
G: The two I like most are PokerStars and FullTilt. I think I like Stars more at this point- but that may due to more familiarity than anything else.
Q: What is your favorite casino ?
G: I don’t have a lot of casino experience. Even in my last Vegas trip, which was 6 days, I only saw a few casinos. The Wynn has the nicest bathrooms I have ever used though. Solid marble doors. That defines class.
Q: What is your favorite poker hand ?
G: I’m not sure I have a favorite hand really. I like the look of J-9, but I have seen too many hands to like how that plays out.
Q: How would you describe your poker style ?
G: I think I am pretty conservative player. When I try and mix it up and go aggressive, I have a hard time reeling myself back in and I go broke.
Q: Who is your favorite poker player ?
G: At this point probably Barry Greenstein, scary good, and actually a good guy.
Q: What’s the last book you have read ?
G: I just finished a serial killer mystery the other day but the name escapes me. That ought to tell you how good it was. I am currently reading Harrington Vol 1.
Q: What level of static do you get over your poker habit ?
G: Very little actually. Many of my friends play. Even my folks bought me a bunch of poker trinkets for the house last Christmas. Then again, I’m not sure they know how often I play.
Q: Tell us a little known fact about yourself.
G: Would you believe I was Harry S Truman in a former life? No? OK then, I used to work on model boats that shoot ammo at each other. Yes. Really. Link Here I don’t anymore though, every hobby takes time- this one more than most.
