Q: What would you do with all your extra time if online poker was suddenly made illegal and there were no work arounds to play? (Submitted by cmitch)

BM: I don’t spend much time playing online now, but I guess it would go in to more movie and TV watching.  I would make more of an effort to head to casinos and play live.

Q: Besides Hold’em, what is your favorite poker game and can it or any other game be featured on television? (Submitted by OhCaptain)

BM: We have started putting Omaha in our home game rotation.  It’s a great game for cash because it builds big pots.  I would like to see some of it on High Stakes Poker.

Q: Other than on the bubble in a satellite, have you ever folded KK or QQ preflop? (Submitted by NumbBono)

BM: Never Kings, but I have folded Queens preflop.  Although I’d like to think I would have folded them agains Helmuth and Beth Shack when she is jumping up and down and showing her cards to her husband.

Q: How/why did you get started blogging and playing these tournaments? (Submitted by pvanharibo)

BM: I got started in Wil Wheaton’s Tuesday night games.  His was the first blog I had ever read and I was just starting to get in to poker.  I won one of my early attempts at his tournament and wanted a place to brag / record my win.

Q: Live or online, when put to the test for all your chips, what percentage of your choice is “poker knowledge/experience”, and what percentage is “intuition/read”? (Submitted by emptyman)

BM: I’m only about 25% intuition / read.  I make the other 75% on numbers and experience with the player.

Q: If you could change one thing for the better in the poker industry — whether it be a tournament rule, a business practice, media coverage, player etiquette, or anything else — what would you choose and why? (Submitted by PirateLawyer)

BM: My first thought is make poker fully legal online and have card rooms in all 50 states.  Since that is pie in the sky I will suggest more likely practices.  When you give Phil Helmuth a penalty for berating a player, then by God, fucking enforce it and don’t let him weasel his way out of it.  The other thing would be a more clearly defined betting line so someone can’t do the full extension pump fake like they had at Brandon Cantu’s table this year’s Main Event.

Q: Describe the best played hand of your poker career. (Submitted by Loretta8)

BM: I don’t have a great memory for too many past hands.  The best played hand that I was involved in was with Surflexus and it was his laydown that impressed me.  He had me killed until the river and was able to lay AK with an AK on the board when I made my straight.

Q: If you were to write a book about poker, what would it be about specifically and what would the title be? (Submitted by surflexus)

BM: To me poker is a hobby and a reason to hang with friends.  The name of the book would be Keep It Fun, Remember That It’s A Game.

Q: How many times did you suck out leading up to your Mookie win? (Submitted by HighOnPoker)

BM: 1 huge one with my AK cracking AA.

Q:  What was your biggest “aha” moment (think epiphany) in your poker playing career? (Submitted by Twoblackaces)

BM: You don’t have to go all in to make a good bluff.

Q: Do you think the November Nine “experiment” was a success and should it be repeated in ‘09? (Submitted by Nzgreen)

BM: I liked what they did because in the past, the ending was always spoiled for me.  I think waiting until November was a little too long and I would like to have seen more hands shown.  Either I missed it or they didn’t show, but I thought ESPN was going to have more about what the players did from July until the came back in November.  Their preparations / training, charity work, and performance in other poker tournaments.  It would have given the audience more of an investment in the players.
