Tilt
Don’t you hate it when you’ve played perfectly over the course of the game. You haven’t made one single mistake and as the game progresses your opponents are in disbelief at the level of play you are displaying. While on this magical run, you feel like you’re on top of the world. Invincible. Bullet proof.
The game nears the end and then it happens. A mistake. That one mistake ruins all the perfect play and the game is over. Feelings of shock, disbelief and then of course tilt…maddening tilt…immediately take over your body.
Strangely enough I’m not talking about either of the poker tournaments I played this weekend at the Big O. My flashes of poker brilliance were outnumbered by the many donkey plays I displayed.
It wasn’t poker that had me on tilt in between tournaments on Friday night. Instead it was a game of Wii Bowling. After playing the first game against Michael and Justin and winning with a score just over 200 we decided to play one more.
A perfect game didn’t cross my mind until after the 7th or 8th strike in a row. Nine, Ten and then Eleven…perfect. And there I stood with Wii remote in hand, strap tight across my wrist, one strike away from a perfect game.
I made my move towards the TV screen and everything fell into place just like the previous 11 strikes. The action didn’t go into slow-motion like on the movies, but it did seem like an eternity as I watched the bowling ball move down the lane and strike the pins. They all fell…all except one lonely pin. It wiggled back and forth but stood. I dropped to my knees, unleashed a few F-bombs and stared at the 299 score displayed on the screen…
And now you can say you’ve heard a Wii bad beat story.

that was a disgusting score bro, i felt your pain.
Wii bowling is rigged.
Ouch.
I guess the plus side of barely being able to crack the 200 point barrier in Wii bowling is that I never have to deal with getting that close to a 300 and missing it.
Kinda like how I can’t get much better than a 100 in real bowling. Must not be my sport.
ahhahahahahaha!!!!!
The sad thing is I’ll never be in that 250 neighborhood again.
