Like ‘Mama’ Boucher used to say…”MTTs are the devil”. I have to agree after my performance in last night’s Mookie. Hell even the playa’ Doyle Brunson knows cash is king…

I went by the Bellagio and played a few hours in a $1,500 – $3,000 game where I won enough to buy the new Escalade I’ve been wanting. The cash games are so much better for a real poker player.

We had 56 players show up for the non-BBT3 affair last night. I was surprised we had that many considering many are a little burned out on blogger tourneys these days.

I actually managed to make it past the first break due largely to the 3,000 starting chips. Midway through the tourney I got hit with the deck and won 3-4 races in a row to boost my stack.

Down to 13 players I won a flip against Lucko and actually took a slight chiplead with about 35K in chips. Unfortunately my ability to win races ended there as I donked off an 8K chunk trying to pick off Sed’s shove with 77. He doubled through me when his ATs won the race.

A number of unsuccessful steals preflop had me limping into the final table fourth in chips with 19K. Only the top 7 spots made the money.

Since I was still in the thick of things, I slacked on taking screenshots of eliminations until after I hit the rail. Many of these screenshots show me in the hand when in fact I don’t think I eliminated or doubled up anyone at the final table.

Congrats to newcomer Jasper on the big win and his first Mookie title. One of these days I’ll actually take the time to learn how to play tourney poker and not fizzle out at the end. One of these days.

We had 16 players show up to The Dookie for some Turbo Pot Limit Omaha. It was weird to actually play both The Mookie and Dookie at the same time. It’s been months since I’ve done that before.

I managed to make the final table but was quickly shown the rail after my flopped boat looked more like a dinghy up against flopped quads. Boooo!

With the smaller crowd, only the top 3 spots made the money.
