The Mookie/Dookie Recap
The Curse is stronger than The Cooler. It was proven last night at The Mookie after this prop bet between Bayne and the worst poker player took place right before the start of the tournament:
Bayne: I will test that theory with the ultimate cooler vs. the ultimate curse.
Bayne: I want to wager $5 that Hoy or Mookie wins the Mookie tonight
Bayne: you get the field
Bayne: I get those 2
sirfwalgman: lol ok
Surprise, surprise neither Hoy or myself won The Mookie last night. Even with Waffle’s cooler powers in effect, that was not enough to break the curse. I think it’s pretty safe to say we will never, ever win The Mookie. A whopping 85 players showed up for the fun last night. Pretty crazy for a non-BBT Mookie tourney.
While playing The Mookie I was tuned into MiamiDon sans IT Radio. The Asshat Frat Crew (MiamiDon, Chad, ScottyMc, Hoyazo and BuddyDank) kept us entertained throughout the evening.

I didn’t receive 10+ premium hands like last week so after the first break Iended up running TT into JJ leaving me shortstacked. The very next hand I called off the rest of my crumbs in the BB with A7d and couldn’t suck out against CK’s 99. One banner coming up.
Here were the lucky ones (and their chipcounts) to make the final table and squeeze into the cash…

1st Place – bdidde … Congrats to bdidde on the big win and title #2.
2nd Place – DonkeyPuncher74 … Just missed out on title #2
3rd Place – OMGItsPokerFool … The guy one way more in the side action when we stormed the 50FTP tourneys and played Last Donk Standing.
4th Place – RayTen … Proving yet again, the new ones always get deep.
5th Place – surflexus … Another run at title #6 that fell short. 2nd final table of the year for Surf.
6th Place – ElSnarfGrande … Yet another new player going deep.
7th Place – Budohorseman … One of the many at the final table who have won a Mookie tournament.
8th Place – leftylu … He’s won 3 Mookie titles.
9th Place – Loretta8 … Another past winner making the final table.
For The Dookie we played something new…HOE…alternating rounds of LHE, LO8, Stud O8. It’s something we probably won’t play again since Full Tilt doesn’t offer it in Turbo format. This thing took FOREVER and I gave up and went to bed before the eventual winner was decided. Here were the top 4 to make the money:
1st Place – UnTiltable15
2nd Place – ricky424
3rd Place – ugly chimp
4th Place – pureprophet
Congrats to UnTiltable on the big win and thanks to everyone who made it out to one or both of the tournaments last night.
Before I go, I wanted to bring up something that was talked about on the radio last night. Starting chip stacks for The Mookie. The consensus on air was that maybe we should go back to 1,500 chips instead of 3,000. I’m starting to lean that way myself as these things are going pretty late, especially if you’re an east-coaster. We had 85 players last night and with the upcoming BBT3 I can only image the numbers will be past 100. Next week is already scheduled for 3,000 chips but let me know what you think about a possible change back to 1,500 chips for future events.

I just threw up in my mouth.
I was told to look at the pic with the following quote…
“It was the spring break that they all thought they would get laid. But not by each other. Brokeback Break, coming to a theatre near you”
I personally like the deepstacks, but then again I usually don’t hit the final table and I live in the central time zone, so I can certainly understand the argument against them.
Personally I would like to see stacks in commensurate with the buy in. So $10 would be single stack, $24 double, Big Game super. I feel as if double stacks are kind of watering the games down and the mookie is getting huge so time is now a concern. I would make the skill series single stack, but the limit structure is just so bad on FTP! Just my two cents…..
The deep stacks and large fields kill the east coast. Its a long night to final table this thing now.
Hey, I’ve never won this thing, I’m on the East Coast, and I like the double stacks…. 3 1/2 hours isn’t THAT long for tournament. Move the time up an hour if it’s that much of an issue.
I prefer the deep stacks.
It seems as if there’s two different camps on why you should go back to 1500 chips.
1) Late finishes. We seem to be finishing about a half hour later than before (maybe 45 minutes). Late for one person is early for another though. I don’t think there’s too many of us that mind staying up a little later for the Mookie though. East coasters will always feel like the world should revolve around them though.
2) The “watering down” of the games. I’m not buying this one. I think the deeper the stack, the more skilled players you see at the final stages of the game. I don’t think you should feel that you have to “turbo-up” the game simply because it’s not as big as a buyin as the Hoy or the Big Game. Those who can’t afford to play the bigger buyin games regularly should still be able to have a little deep stack poker to play if they would like to.
I say leave it at 3K stacks.
The bottom line is, it’s your tourney, with your name on it, so it’s your call.
