Storm The Peak

Thanks to everyone who played in either or both of the Mookie tournaments last night. We had a solid 50 players sign up for the anniversary event with NumbBono defending his title.

I played about as bad I have in quite some time. It was very disappointing to not even make the first break. It was nice to be able to spend a few minutes at the tables with Pauly before I donked out. January was very tough for me related to poker. I’ll have a post up later today or tomorrow recapping the month.

Congrats to those who made the final table and to the final 6 who made the money…BuddyDank, MrSubliminal, heffmike, PostModernBoy, Schaubs, and pokerpeaker.

In what ended up being one of the longest Mookie tournaments, the final three players…Schaubs, BuddyDank and pokerpeaker battled for quite some time before “The Hand” took place.

12:04 … pp raises to 3200 PF and Schaubs calls….J86 (two hearts) on the flop. pp bets 1600 and Schaubs raises to 4000. pp calls and a 5 peels off on the turn, pp checks and Schaubs bets 7000. pp moves all in for 8K more and its set over set…pokerpeaker had 88 and Schaubs 66. Wow…Rigged.

Schaubs bowed out in 3rd place shortly after this hand and Buddy and pokerpeaker went heads up. About 15 minutes later after trading the lead a couple times, pokerpeaker slowplayed JJ and trapped BuddyDank.

12:33 … pokerpeaker was able to get BuddyDank all in on a flop of 662. Buddy had 32 while pokerpeaker was strapped with JJ. No miracle deuces for Buddy and he finishes in 2nd place. Congrats to pokerpeaker on winning his first Mookie title.

Congrats to pokerpeaker on winning his first Mookie title. I’ll have his profile up here later this week.

For the 2nd Chance tournament, PLO8 (Turbo) was on the menu and 20 people joined in the fun. No shockers here, I was out quickly as I may have played PL08 once or twice in the past.

Congrats to those who made the final table. The final three players to make the money were PostModernBoy, bayne_s and NumbBono. PMB played well in both tourneys and pulled off the double cash. Heads up play between bayne and last week’s champ, NumbBono lasted forever. They both played great but in the end bayne was able to pull out the win. Congrats !

Thanks again to everyone who played last night, it was fun as always. The live blogging is always tough especially with our growing field of players. Over the next couple of weeks I’m gonna re-evaluate doing this going forward. I may push off much of the work and have people IM, email or leave a comment with their knockout hand and then blog that. We’ll see. It’s really tough to play much less chat at the different tables and keep up with the table conversation. To me that’s the most enjoyable part of a blogger tourney, and lately it seems like I’m missing out.

Don’t forget The Mookie will be taking a two week break returning February 21st (The Mookie – Storm The Peak). Next week is Hammer Day…don’t forget to sign up and note the starting time. (8:00 PM CT).

The following week is Valentine’s Day but I’m sure someone else will jump in with a tournament for all you anti-romantics.

I’ve gotten a couple of people interested/confirmed for Weekend at Mookie’s. I’ll give it until next week to see if there are others before we trim the potential dates from 3 weekends down to one. It also looks like there will be at least one field trip to some of the underground poker clubs with ScottMc taking on the role of chaperon.
