Staying Behind
I’m moving a little slower than usual today thanks to a late night at the ol’ work place. Our office in Bangalore got infected with a tricky virus which kept most away from home until late last night. On top of that I experienced another weird weather day in Austin. When I left for lunch the temperature was 81
degrees. As I was pulling out of the company parking lot around 10:30pm last night, sleet hit my windshield and the temperature was a cool 31 degrees. A nice little 50 degrees swing. It’s just a matter of days before one or more of the kiddos come down with some kind of cold or virus. Before I went to bed I looked out the window and saw it snowing. Crazy!

I’ve actually played a little poker since last Wednesday. On Saturday I ventured over to a home game and played well early only to fizzle out at the final table. Big surprise there huh. Monday was the second event in NYRambler’s series and this time around the game was 6-handed PLO. The deck hit me pretty hard early on which helped me make the final table. Unlike most of the final tables I’ve made I actually had some chips to work with. Unfortunately I don’t have any kind of end game and I fell short in 3rd place. I’m thinking of writing a final table strategy book outlining how I play in different scenarios and then telling people to do the exact opposite.

Some random thoughts…
Governor Blago of my birth state of Illinois had to do the perp walk yesterday. I actually read through the 78 page affidavit and I haven’t seen a slimy, corrupt politician that bad since shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit Clay Davis on The Wire. Speaking of Clay Davis (Isiah Whitlock Jr.), I caught 25th Hour on HBO the other day and he is in the movie and uses his trademark catchphrase in one scene.
Despite an unimpressive 7-7 record, I still managed to slide into the last playoff spot in my fantasy football league. I got in on a total points tie-breaker all thanks to a 170 point performance earlier in the year.
Ever wonder what Waffles would spend his money on if he ever became a winning poker player? Something tells me this wouldn’t be too far fetched of an item for him.
Slowly over the last half of the year blogger content has dropped off and April details how sites like Twitter are to blame. Facebook is another time hog as I’m addicted to those stupid games like Mob Wars and myFarm. Yes, I’m growing a ghey little farm like a 2 yr. old online. Shoot me now.

Tonight is The Mookie on Full Tilt and I’m down to 4 chances to meet my goal of winning a Mookie this year (along with snagging a prop bet with Hoy along the way). Poor Schaubs is probably going to lose a prop bet to IT betting on me and that bums me out. It’s probably the only time in my lifetime someone will wager their hard earned cash on my poker performance.
BuddyDank among other will be in lovely Las Vegas tonight for an early start on the Blogger Weekend. They’ll be broadcasting live during the tournament tonight. It will be interesting to see what drops they can get from this year’s broadcast. “I only got one nut!!” Be sure to tune into BuddyDank Radio for the craziness that is sure to follow.
Sadly I won’t be making the trip to one of my favorite cities. This weekend is our maintenance period at work and I’ll be stuck here slaving away. Normally I would bitch and moan about the grind, the man and the crappy job but these days I’m so thankful to even have a job. It looks like I’ll be here longer than 3-6 months now so you won’t hear any complaining from me. I’m looking forward to keeping up with the action on Twitter and to reading all the trip reports in the upcoming days.
Hopefully we’ll still have a decent turnout tonight at The Mookie. Good luck!
