So Long BBT

Last night was Don’s Big Game and due to my busy weekend I wasn’t able to play. Congrats to TripJax on taking down the big win knocking out Hoy heads up who’s been on quite a tear in the blogger events. After not being able to snag a single point in the BBT series early on he went on a mad rush at the end and finished up in 4th place. Very impressive.

The Big Game last night marked the end of the BBT series and what a finish. Going into last night there was still 10 or 11 players with a chance to finish in the top “money” spots on the leaderboard. Congrats to the top 5 finishers…

1st bayne_s – $930.50
2nd Buddy_Dank – $558.30
3rd jeciimd – $372.20
4th hoyazo – Nintendo Wii
5th summer_babe -Nintendo DS Lite

The other half of the very impressive $3,711 rake-back prize pool funds the freeroll tournament on Wednesday, July 25th at 9:00PM CT. There will be over $1,850 up for grabs with the top 12 spots being paid. Congrats to the 56 players who have qualified for this. Be sure to check the BBT website to see if you’ve qualified.

Al has a post up outlining some figures from this series which is very interesting. He also wrote this…

Thanks to hoy and Mookie for letting me tag along on this little online adventure.”

Now normally I agree 100% with Al seeing how there is at least 3,370 reasons why he is the man…however he’s wrong this time. Al let us “tag along” on this series as he did 99% of the work. Not only did he get a sponsor for the event..Big thanks to PokerOnAMac.com…but he also got Full Tilt to hook us up with the rake-back. Of course he didn’t stop there, he setup the official blog/website and tracked and scored every single tournament. So be sure to stop by Al’s site and leave a comment and buy him a drink the next time you see him. Thanks Al!

A lot has been and will be said about the BBT scoring system. I think everyone agrees it’s far from perfect however when it comes to a series like this it’s almost impossible to come up with a sure fire system. Some people have mentioned just tracking cash won but with the different tournament buy-in prices that can skew the results. Another option is a net-cash won system however some people token into the MATH and Big Game while others just buy-in directly. I know both Al and Hoy have mentioned writing posts later in the week to discuss this so that should be interesting.

I hope we are able to do a BBT II in the future. The turnout for this series was unbelievable and I think it was a lot of fun. Personally I would like us to do a Blogger FTOPS sometime in the future. This would be like a combination of the WPBT and BBT series where we play all the games not just Hold ‘Em and crown a “champ” of each event all while tracking a “player of the series” culminating in a main event. I know it’s way too early to be talking specifics but the “under” events could be $10 and $26 buy-ins with the “main event” $75 or $100. Just an idea.

Tonight Hoy will be hosting the non-BBT MATH event on Full Tilt. I’ll do my best to join the fun but Mondays are always tough.

The Mookie and Dookie tournaments have been posted for Wednesday and I just realized that’s July 4th. So after have a few weeks of 82, 72, etc. players we may end up with 4 or 6. Austin is doing its best impersonation of Seattle right now with all the rain that’s hit the area so there’s a good chance our fireworks watching will be rained out and I’ll be able to play. So I’ll go ahead and have the tourneys…hell it may be my one shot at winning.

I was able to get some poker in this weekend at Rocco’s home game on Saturday. He had a great turnout with 22 players showing up and I ended up limping into the final table dead last in chips. After stealing the blinds and then doubling up within the first few hands I was back in the tournament and ended up chopping heads up. Mrs. Mookie also snagged some cash finishing in 4th place which will help fund our Vegas bankroll. 48 more days…can’t wait.

  1. It’s hard to argue with folks who put in hard work to bring us the BBT, but in the end, if it is viewed as constructive criticism, then in the end we will all be better for it. I think there is a better way, but I had no problems with the way it was done this year and I enjoyed the hell out of it.

And Al is the fucking man. That was a shit ton of work and I appreciate what he did. I wanted to comment on his blog but his comments were down earlier today.

Thanks to all 3 of you for the BBT.

Now I need to boost my Mookie numbers cause they are strugglin’.

  2. Oh and thanks for the props and also I think the Blogger FTOPS is a great idea…

  3. Great job in the BBT…you guys all did an awesome thing for the bloggers out there who have a need for competition….

  4. I agree Trip…congrats again on the big win.

Thanks Dave…Al is the man and hopefully we can do it all again.
