Miami to Vegas II
Wow what a night…thanks to everyone who showed up for the record breaking Mookie last night. We blew away the old record of 66 with 78 players signing up to play in BBT event #2.
MiamiDon was the defending champ and it looked like he wouldn’t be able to defend. As you can see to the left, he’s pretty happy he played. Be sure to check out the live-blog from last night…when I finally went to bed well past 1am, my hands were sore from all the typing.
As usual I started off bleeding chips away and couldn’t get anything going. With the points cut at 39 players, things looked pretty bleak for me.
“10:04 … I’m running over my table…695 chips, 47/47. I think I’m gonna go pro.”
I spent most of the time on the short stack in this tournament. I was all-in 10 times throughout the night and won 9 of those to double up. I couldn’t string any of those together though and never really built a stack.
I think I doubled up a couple times when we were on the bubble and after about 15 minutes of play the bubble popped with Astin finishing in 10th.
The entire final table cashed and congrats to everyone who made it that far. It was a very tough final table and when I looked around the only soft spot was me. Check out the lineup…
Pretty easy to spot the donkey huh…I felt like the special kid getting to play with the varsity team. I had a great time but eventually it was time to take Corky out of the game and I finished up in 6th place. MiamiDon was credited with the KO and he looked to break the Mookie curse.
After numerous levels, blind changes (which got huge) and nearly 45 minutes after my elimination the game finally ended with MiamiDon left standing. Back to Back winner…the first of this year and the first multiple winner as well. He also broke the Mookie curse to top it all off. Congrats ! Very impressive.
So next week we’ll do this all again and Don will once again defend looking to make it three straight…a feat that has never been accomplished. He’ll also be choosing The Dookie format and smokkee is lobbying hard to make it a $1 Push Fest. What is a Push Fest you ask? I’ll let smokkee come up with the full details, but in a nutshell…everyone puts in a $1 and then pushes all-in every single hand until the “luckiest mo-fo” remains. Crazy huh…leave it to smokkee to come up with something like this.
Not to be overlooked, The Dookie was played last night and 19 players showed up Turbo HORSE. I bombed out of this pretty early and didn’t watch any of this since I was still playing in the main event while live-blogging. Hell I wasn’t even paying attention while I was still alive, apologies to my table mates for the delays. It’s pretty tough trying to juggle all three things at once. I tried to hire this intern named Keeley to help out on Wednesdays, but Mrs. Mookie didn’t seem too happy about that idea.
Congratulations to those who final tabled The Dookie and to the final 3 who managed to cash. slb159 took 3rd while radio DJ InstantTragedy and jeciimd went heads up. After winning two key hands, jeciimd was able to take down the win. Very nice.
Thanks again to everyone who played in either or both The Mook and Dook. See everyone there again next week.
I’ll be back later with the latest Mookie standings and to pimp BBT Event #3…Riverchasers tourney tonight !
