Let The Countdown Begin

6 more days...It’s always hard coming back to work after having a great weekend like I did. After getting some wonderful news on the personal front, I was able to sneak out from the ol’ workplace right at 5pm on Friday. We loaded up the whole Mook-clan and did some shopping and grabbed some dinner. That night we watched The Pursuit of Happyness which was based loosely on a true story.

Saturday was spent at a home tournament hosted by Jim/Stacey. This was his Poker Championship for the first half of the year. He keeps a points list and depending on how high up the list you were determined your buy-in for the event. The stacks were much deeper than usual and the blind time in the early going was 40 minutes.

The tourney went pretty long, things kicked off at noon and by the time I made the final table it was around 7pm. In the end, at least for me, my 77 fell to a button steal with K5o and after 9 1/2 hours I took 4th place. This was by far the longest tournament I’d ever played.

I caught up on my beauty sleep and didn’t roll out of bed until 10:30am yesterday. Mrs. Mookie paid me off to back out of our hair prop bet so I took Homie with me to get our nappy heads cut. She wasn’t digging the look at all and didn’t wanna be seen with me looking like that for our Vegas trip.

After we got back looking sharp and suave we loaded up the whole crew again for some school clothes shopping. The runts are heading back to school in 2 weeks and they needed some duds. When we got back I decided it was time to teach my boy Homie how to use a lawnmower. He’s 10 yrs. old now and about the right size to handle the mower. Although the backyard looks like it got a really bad haircut, he did very well for his first time. They grow up so fast.

Last night was spent chilling on the couch while we watched Entourage and Survivorman. It never gets old watching stuff like this and Man vs. Wild. At least I’ll have some sort of clue on what to do when I’m blindfolded and dropped in some remote place like the Everglades or the Kalahari Desert.

6 more days! This will probably be a long, long week and I can’t wait to hop on that plane for Vegas. There will be 11 of us making the trip which should really be a lot of fun. I have no plans whatsoever setup for this trip. In all my past trips to Vegas I tried to setup a schedule of playing cash games here and tournaments there, but this time I’m just gonna roll with the punches and see what happens. Our only “planned” event will be to hook up with Don, Carmen and anyone else out there at some point during the trip.

You still have one more chance to win a Mookie Vegas Bounty this Wednesday at The Mookie. Knock me out and you win a $10 bet that will be placed for you in Vegas by me. So far NewinNov and BuddyDank have been the lucky winners of said bounty and so far only Buddy has given me his pick…#22 on the Roulette table.
