Leftylu X 2
Another Mookie tournament in the books and another swing and a miss from me. We had 50 players for the main event and a previous post confused many into thinking the format would be 6-handed. My apologies to those folks as that was a lame attempt at a joke about “this” Mookie going 6-handed next year. The buy-in of $250,000 reflected the supposed cost of raising a child from birth to about age 17.
But since this caused a commotion and many people were looking forward to it, I’m gonna make next week’s Mookie a 6-handed event. Maybe things will wrap up before 12:30AM.
Last night I thought things would finish in record time since so many people were hitting the rail quickly. The beats were plentiful and painful, the river was a bitch to many.
I wish I could blame my demise on a bad beat or cooler but I have no defense for my bad play. Overplaying JJ kept me from seeing the first break…as a player at least. After my knockout hand, I stuck around listening to the live broadcast on BuddyDank Radio while trying to live-blog the action. Congrats to Rake Feeder on winning The Easiest Bounty in Poker, please drop me a note and let me know if you want a banner for your blog or the $10 Vegas Bet.
It’s a long time from an early bustout and the final table, luckily I had The Dookie to keep me awake. The defending champ, Julius_Goat, also put up a bounty on himself…$11 (or $22 if we had 65 players). He managed to make it past nearly half the field but eventually fell to leftylu.
PostModernBoy finished on the final table bubble and this is how things looked…

Only 6 spots paid and here were the final results…
9th Place – GScottW … Nursing a short stack, back to back final tabler GScott got involved in a 3-way all-in preflop pot with KQd. stl_phily had QQ and the pair held up.
8th Place – Jestocost … He was the other player involved in the big 3-way pot and was crippled after that hand. He managed to go from 400ish chips up to about 6,500 before making a move with 65o. Riggstad called with AK and Big Slick ended Jestocost’s night.
7th Place – emptyman … The bubble last one hand, emptyman had 77 but wwonka69 had TT. No miracle set for empty and he finished on the bubble.
6th Place – swimmom95 … KQ was no match for riggstad’s AK.
5th Place – katiemother … She flopped a pair of Kings but leftylu hit two pair and the past champ’s run at another title fell short.
4th Place – stl_phily … Another past champ. Took two tough beats, the first was AQ vs. A8 and board produced a chop and then his AQ fell to leftylu’s A9.
3rd Place – riggstad … Jim fell just short of winning his first Mookie title. His JackAce ran into wwonka’s AA.
2nd Place – wwonka69 … Heads up the chipcounts looked like this: 96K for leftylu and 53K for wwonka. They played for nearly 30 minutes and at one point wwonka took a slight lead. The turning point was this hand…
12:27 …wwonka raises PF and lefty calls. wonka pushes the K 7 2 flop and lefty calls. AQ for wonka and J7 for lefty. The pair of 7’s hold up and lefty takes a commanding lead.
After this hand leftylu had 130K while wwonka was left with just 19K. Here was the final hand…
12:29 … ATo for wwonka and K3h for leftylu, all in preflop. 3 3 2 7 J board and leftylu wins the pot…
1st Place – leftylu … Congrats to leftylu on winning the tournament and securing his 2nd Mookie title.
The Dookie attracted another strong crowd of 25 players. The format was Pot Limit Hold ‘Em (Turbo) and this time Full Tilt set things up properly. No marathon double stacked tourney this time.
As you can see on the picture to the left, I just barely missed the final table. At least I lasted about 8 minutes longer in this tourney vs. The Mookie.
After busting out, I turned my attention back to live-blogging The Mookie and missed much of the final table action. WWonka nearly pulled off the double cash, but ended up on the bubble.
Congrats to Blinders on taking down the tournament.
3rd Place – schlepp571
2nd Place – RaisingCayne
1st Place – Blinders
Thanks to everyone who made it out to one or both of the tournaments last night. See you next week and I promise it will be 6-handed!
