Freerolling
Last night was the blogger freeroll tournament put on by PokerSourceOnline/Absolute Poker/Nevada Jacks. The prize pool was based on how many people signed up (118) and was around $2,800 + the top five finishers also received $200 gift certificates from Nevada Jacks and then payouts to the top 27 finishers.
About ten minutes into the tournament, 40 no-shows were removed from the tournament. That was a bit strange, but reduced the field to 65 or so. I didn’t recognize anyone at my table other than Slayre, my ID on Absolute is Ten8 since one of my fans must have already taken mookie99. Chris (Drewspop) invited me into the “girlie chat thing” where a bunch of the usuals were chatting.
I never really got much going, just enough to keep me in the game and we slowly started losing players. I though I may have a shot at getting some chips when I was dealt the bitches in EP with blinds at 100/200. I raised to 600 and then one of the big stacks at the table went all in and then the other big stack called. We were nearing the bubble and clearly someone had to have at least Kings here so I folded. AA and AK were the hands shown, and although I escaped elimination, I was left with just a bit over 1,500 chips. Some point before the bubble, Chris was moved next to me and he was able to go on a nice run and get chips.
I moved in a few times with mid pocket pairs and big Aces to stay in and then…beep, beep, beep…I was able to back into the money and even moved up one money spot (from $30 to $45) before exiting in 21st place.
Congrats to Jordan who finished 2nd for $450 (be sure to go read his write up) even though he is a disgrace to poker. Kat finished 4th and Chris took 6th, one spot from the bigger money and gift certificate, after he took one to the junk. Other people I know that moneyed – Duggle, Byron, Drizz and Matt. There are probably others that I am missing.
I am still not sure whether or not I will make the tourney(s) tonight and I still need to write up the tournament report from the event on Friday at the Big O. (We didn’t export the results from Tournament Director, so it will be lacking some detail).

Nice job, Mookie! I ended up going out a few places after you when I became yet another of Jordan’s victims. I’m hoping to make the Mookie this week. It’s been a while, and I seem to cash in all the ones I play in, so I’ll do my best to make it.
I saw that a ‘mookie’ won $2000 on one of the milestone hands on pokerstars. Was that you?
Thanks Matt, nice run yourself. Jordan was a one man wrecking crew last night.
I wish that was me, Alan, I think it was someone named mookie78 or something like that.
