Thanks to everyone who made it out to The Mookie last night. Even with many of the usual suspects missing in action due to fantasy football drafts, we still had a solid showing of 46 players. It’s always great seeing new faces and last night was no different.

The boys were broadcasting live from BDR and I did my best to keep up with the action in the live-blog.

It was a strange evening in that the best hands seemed to hold up more often than usual at The Mookie. I’m used to seeing sickening 1,2 and 3 outers every 2nd or 3rd elimination, but for much of the tournament this was not the case. Now don’t get me wrong, there were suckouts, just not at the usual Mookie pace.

Yours truly stayed out of trouble for most of the night and made it to the final two tables. I ran out of gas and couldn’t find a magical double up or three and left the party in 16th place. Even though the crowd was lighter than other nights when we have had 60+ players, this tourney took forever.

When jeciimd was knocked out in 10th the final table was formed. Only 6 spots paid last night.

9th Place – yancypants … Yancy went racing with AQ vs. jamyhawk’s 88. An Ace and Queen both appeared but so did an 8.

8th Place – jamyhawk … Twenty minutes went by and jamy went racing again. This time he had 44 vs. KQ from RaisingCayne. A King on the river ended jamy’s night.

7th Place – willwonka … The nasty bubble had to go to someone and unfortunately it was Will. On a shortstack he pushed with KJ and ran into AA.

6th Place – RaisingCayne … RC lost a couple of big pots (one huge one with the nut flush draw vs. a pair of aces) and was forced all-in in the blinds. No miracle comeback and all the blame is on BuddyDank for making RC one of his picks. Hehe.

5th Place – IslandBum1 … It was well past midnight when this KO hand happened…

12:22 … Blinds are up to 1200/2400 with a 300 ante. Nasty beat! Kd5s for redheadJenn and KJc for IslandBum1….2s 4h Ks 6s Qs…flushed. 4 left. RHJ has 54K.

4th Place – JoeMav … Joe managed to crack JJ with A-rag but couldn’t make it double with A9o vs. NewinNov’s TT.

3rd Place – -o-LuckTruck-o- … Playing in only his 2nd Mookie event, LuckTruck made a strong run but took a tough beat with JJ vs. NewinNov’s A6o.

2nd Place – redheadJenn … Heads up RHJ had 54K in chips while NewinNov had 83K. They played for a couple of minutes until the final hand unfolded…

12:46 … A couple raises PF and 25K in the middle on a Qs 3s 6d flop…they get all in and NewinNov shows Q5 but is way behind redheadJenn’s KK. Until a 5 peels off on the turn to change things. No help for Jenn on the river…

1st Place – NewinNov … Congrats to NewinNov on his first title this year and #4 overall. He’s second behind only surflexus for most titles ever.

Pot Limit Omaha was the game of choice for The Dookie and 17 players entered this turbo extravaganza. I spent much of the first few levels clicking the fold button and watch people fall by the wayside. If I played it hand it was usually prefaced by a pot sized raise preflop, no loose limpin’ for the Mook.

Eventually we hit the final table but I was running low in the chip department and after a few successful raise and take it pots I ran into Hoy’s QQxx and my 66xx couldn’t get lucky, lucky, lucky.

Hoy and pokerenthusiast went heads up and it was a great match. In the end Hoy was able to pull out the win. It’s no Mookie, but a win nonetheless. Congrats!
