As expected I didn’t fare too well with my football picks over the weekend. If you faded my picks you probably have some lunch money for the week. Thanks to Chitwood for pointing out my mistake with the Indy game.  I ended up running like Waffles this weekend.  Let’s see how I did…

NCAA Football

Michigan St. (+15 1/2) at Penn St. (-15 1/2)

Mook’s pick: Michigan St. (+15 1/2) 200 units

RESULT: Penn St. 49 Michigan St. 18 – Oops, I was just a tad off huh.  I fully expected Penn St. to win but did not see this ass whoopin’ coming. (-200 units)

North Carolina St. (+11) at North Carolina (-11)

Mook’s pick: North Carolina St. (+11) 100 units

RESULT: North Carolina St. 41 North Carolina 10 – Another big blowout but at least I was on the right side of this one.  Too bad I only put up 100 units. (+100 units)

Texas Tech (+7) at Oklahoma (-7)

Mook’s pick: Texas Tech (+7) 200 units

RESULT: Oklahoma 65 Texas Tech 21 – My jinx worked but unfortunately it worked too well.  With this big win it looks like OU will leapfrog Texas with a win against OSU.  (-200 units)

Record: 1-2 (-300 units)

NFL

Indy (+3) at San Diego (-3)

Mook’s pick: Indy (+3) 200 units

RESULT: Indy 23 San Diego 20 – For some reason I can’t read and thought I lost this bet until Chitwood pointed out Indy was the road dog.  Woo hoo! (+200 units)

NY Giants (-3 1/2) at Arizona (+3 1/2)

Mook’s pick: NYG (-3 1/2) 200 units

RESULT: NY Giants 37 Arizona 29 – Warner still managed to throw for over 300 yards but the Giants defense held Arizona to just 23 yards rushing and only 1 TD pass for Warner. (+200 units)

Tampa Bay (-8) at Detroit (+8)

Mook’s pick: Detroit (+8) 100 units

RESULT: Tampa Bay 38 Detroit 20 – I thought I was money when the Lions jumped out to a 17-0 lead but these are the Lions we’re talking about.  My upset special wasn’t so special but luckily I only put up 100 units on this one. (-100)

Record: 2-1 (+300 units)

OVERALL RECORD: 3-3 (no units won/loss)

I’ll give this another try this week but since it’s a holiday weekend (and UT plays on Thursday) I’ll post my picks on Wednesday.
