Blue Thursday
“Uh-oh. Sounds like somebody’s got a case of the Mondays.”
Nah…Thursdays.
While walking out to my truck this morning, I noticed the front right tire was a little low. No biggie…I swung into a gas station, added some air and then dropped off a couple of the kiddos at school. School, not pool. Big difference.
I read some email on my iPhone at a stoplight and noticed one from PayPal support notifying me that a payment had been reversed and sent back to the buyer. This was for a PayPal/Full Tilt transfer I did for someone a couple weeks back. Yea, I got ripped off. After receiving the money in PayPal, I transferred the money in Full Tilt. An hour or so later I received an email from PP support letting me know the transaction was under review. I emailed the guy and of course heard nothing back other than crickets. PayPal never heard from him either and reversed the payment per their policy on services transactions.
No surprise my blood was boiling as I made my way onto the highway. A few minutes from work I noticed my truck pulling slightly to the right. I called my wife and mentioned it’s probably time I get those new tires for the truck. Halfway through that conversation I heard a big boom. Boom not BOOOOOM. Big difference. Tire tread peppered my windshield while the truck pulled hard to the right which forced me straight to the shoulder of the road. Luckily I was already in the far right lane and didn’t collide with anyone or anything. As I got out of the truck to survey the damage, smoke filled the air and the smell of burnt rubber hit my nostrils. What was left of the tire dangled from the rim and I eventually put on the spare.
I made it to work about an hour late but still was able to make my first meeting on time. A couple of minutes into the meeting I felt my iPhone vibrate and then read a text message from my mom letting me know my dad has been laid off today. He’s a builder for a national company and has been with them for years but knew this was a strong possibility given the current economic situation. It still sucks and is definitely a kick to the gut.
If I’m a little salty today in IM/Twitter/Facebook, etc. now you know why. Thanks to those who have sent some kind words my way. Hopefully things will look up soon. I’ve been dry for nearly a month but I’m fighting a strong urge to hit the bottle.

Geez, Mook, sorry for all the bs. What happened at that transfer?
That really sucks.
PP, a non-blogger transferred me $200 on PayPal. After I received it, I sent $200 on FT. A couple hours later PayPal pulled the funds citing a review of the transaction. I provide details but the other party didn’t respond at all over the course of 2 weeks so PP refunded him the money per their policy. He of course never responded to any of my emails or IM’s.
