Mrs. MookieToday marks the 14th wedding anniversary for me and Mrs. Mookie. I’ve said it many times before about how lucky I am to be with with her. You’ll never meet a more selfless person and I’m still amazed I have her in my life.

See the guy wearing the Saturday Night Fever tux? Yea, that was me…you shoulda seen the pants. I could have walked down the aisle to Staying Alive.

Mondays are usually pretty busy for me but last night I made a rare appearance in the MATH. Hoy has been changing the structure each week and this time it was a deep-stacked Turbo affair. After the first break I did nothing more than jam or fold my way to the final table. I gave up calculating my “M” right after the break…Lotto Poker.

After we made the final table I mistakenly thought only 8 spots paid and folded the monster JackAce suited to a raise, re-raise. Normally that’s an easy fold but given the stack sizes of everyone in relation to the blinds I probably should have gambled it up there. Instead I let myself get blinded out in 8th place.

I’ve moved up the BBT2 leaderboard to 26th place but I’m tired of getting deep and fizzling out in the negligible money spots. So from this point forward I promise not to play weak-tight late stage poker. No more!

Congrats to jamyhawk for winning the MATH and the next seat for the Battle of the Blogger Tournaments 2 TOC.

Thanks to everyone who chimed in with feedback on the Planet Hollywood tourney hand from yesterday. To recap:

We’re down to 11 players with 8 spots paying and I’m playing at the 6-handed table with 28,500 chips. I’m 2nd in chips at my table and the average for the tourney is about 24,000. Blinds are 2000/4000 with no ante. The play up to that point had been pretty solid…no crazy aggros, just standard raise and take it at this point in the tourney.

I’m UTG+1 and dealt Ts Tc. What would you do with this hand and why?

Most of the responses said to just jam it in there preflop since my “M” was so low even though I had an above average chipstack. I received one response that said to limp and another to raise to 10K.

So what did I do?

I ended up raising to 12K and then a MP shorty moved in for less than the 12K. The action folded around to the button and he jammed for 27,000. Oops! I had him barely covered and I ended up calling and was shown AJo for the shorty and KK (of course) for the button. Terrible call and GG me. What’s sick is that my next hand I jammed in the dark with a measly 1,500 chips and turned over AA! I doubled but was out on the next hand.

BodonkeyTonight is Smokkee’s Bodonkey tournament on Bodog. I won’t be able to make it since I’ll be taking my lady out for a night on the town, but you should…lots of overlay.

I played a couple of guaranteed tourneys on Bodog over the weekend and neither hit the guarantee which meant lots of free money up for grabs. The tourney structure over there is great and their latest software upgrade has made game play better.

I’ve yet to hit the cash games but Smokkee seems to love them. If he can win at them who couldn’t..I keed, I keed.

The Mookie and Dookie tournaments have been posted on Full Tilt so be sure to sign up early. For the Dookie this week we’ll be playing good ol’ Turbo Razz.
