Asian Rampage
In poker rarely do you find yourself all-in as a 100% favorite to win the hand so anytime you can get all in as say an 87% favorite you gotta feel pretty good. Of course 87% is not 100% so naturally there will be times when when you lose…probably about 12% of the time. When it’s heads up at The Mookie with a BBT2 TOC seat on the line and a few hundred bucks…that’s gotta sting.
This was a pretty fitting hand for the way the evening played out last night at The Mookie. Words like EPIC, SICK, BEST SHOW EVER, etc. were thrown around plenty. New words and phrases like “BuddyDrunk gave a dude a dirtydank” were coined.
Alcohol + BuddyDank Radio = Radio Gold. Hoy blogged about getting smashed prior to the start of The Mookie and was looking for drinking games. BDR picked up on that and dedicated the entire show to various drinking games. After listening to BuddyDrunk get hammered on air, he’s my pick for first blogger to hit the floor in Vegas next week.
Even the totally sober folks like myself had a great time listening in to the drunken madness. Chad sat in the show again and managed to get pretty smashed himself on good ol’ Jack Daniels. There are rumors of next week’s show being broadcast live from Chad’s place with Don and Buddy in tow. Now that’s scary.
I started The Mookie off on crazy Wii Baseball tilt. That game sucks so bad but I’m obsessed with beating the one time I have yet to defeat. I thought I actually played well for the whopping 25 minutes that I was alive. The weak/tight playbook was burned and I amped up the aggression and caught a couple hands. Unfortunately I ran into a couple people who couldn’t lay down monsters like KTo and A7o. Madbrooklyn was the recipient of my bounty…a blog banner (which aren’t transferable LJ 
Speaking of banners, I am WAY behind on those but I haven’t forgotten about them.
After I was bounced I trudged upstairs and spent the next hour banging my head against the wall trying to win at Wii freaking Baseball. No luck. TeenMook showed up and handily beat the team putting me on even bigger Wii Tilt. I was ready to throw that stupid white remote through the wall!
Finally I gave up on the Wii and went back downstairs to my laptop so I could watch more Mookie action or as someone mentioned…”watch 80 monkeys try to fuck a football”.
Eventually they played down to 10 and with 9 spots paying the bubble took forever and a day. Eventually pokerenthusiast trip deuces were bested by a flush which left him on the bubble. I actually managed to throw down some words in The Mookie Live-Blog that has some of the final table action. Here were the final tablers and money winners:
1st Place – RecessRampage … Congrats to the man who some say “is
good lookingHOT…for an Asian”. This is title #2, but more importantly Alan gets that valuable TOC seat.
2nd Place – sellthekids … He probably still has an ice pack on his junk today, but he played great and sometimes as we all know things don’t go the way you hope and expect them to.
3rd Place – RaisingCayne … Back after a brief break making his 3rd final table of the year.
4th Place – madbrooklyn … My new nemesis! First final table for MB and victim of the Mookie curse.
5th Place – actyper … After a pep talk from Coach Chad, actyper switched gears and managed to gather some chips. Ended up running ATh into RR’s AK.
6th Place – rmbj494 … One of Surf’s boys and past Mookie champion making a return to the final table.
7th Place – jamyhawk … Another final table for Jamy….6 out of 16 is pretty impressive.
8th Place – ScottMc … Fellow Austin blogger, Scotty Mc made his 3rd final table of the year.
9th Place – Esquire80 … A newcomer playing in only their 2nd Mookie table again proving newbies go deep and make the cash in The Mookie.
For The Dookie Pot Limit HA was the game of choice, half Hold’em/half Omaha Hi. I really enjoy this game but unfortunately Full Tilt doesn’t offer it in a turbo format. Because of that this thing took forever.
I doubled up early but couldn’t get much going midway through the tournament. After running QQ into AA in a big pot I hit the rail when my A8h and scraps fell to the almighty Presto. FAWK!
After xkm1245 took 5th and popped the bubble these were the players left standing. Well some of them, most of them were beyond hammered and probably curled up on the floor next to their couch and laptops.

Congrats to Hoy for outlasting Drizz in a marathon heads up matchup between the two Cap’n drinkin’ poker heavyweights donkeys. Thanks to everyone who made it out last night.

Mary, I kid of course…the Mookie curse is just whoever knocks me out fails to win 99% of the time. That’s all, no itchy rashes or things of that nature.

It was getting late and I may have just dreamt that this happened, but I remember that Dookie paid the top four places, and I finished third.
At the bubble I was short-stacked and going out in the fifth place, but then fortunately had KK in the hole when somebody decided to make a big bluff reraise with the hammer, chasing out the previous raiser, and I of course called which was all-in for me and nearly tripled up. That was the turning point that saved the game for me.
Wii baseball sucks balls. It’s fun at first, but once your skill level reaches pro level, the other team just smacks anything remotely close to the plate out of the park, while throwing the most ridiculous pitches at you. I wish I could just say at about a 300 level, since it’s actually fun playing there.
Bah I totally screwed up the Dookie recap. I’ll fix it.
Do you still play different teams once you get past level 1400 or so Mike?

You are correct sir and I apologize for that. The though of Buddy doing unspeakables to himself while you mugged with your woman caused me to block that section of the evening from my memory.
I’ll try not to let it happen again. Let’s pray that Buddy does the same.
