The Mookie ResultsThanks to everyone who made it out to The Mookie last night. Surprisingly we had 26 players show up to play on the holiday evening. This was the first time we started with double stacks…3,000 chips…and everyone loved it. So going forward we’ll keep this new format. My only concern is how late the tournament may go when we have a full crowd.

RecessRampage was the defending champ and was there to defend his crown. He made a run but came up short in 12th place. I wasn’t going to do any live-blogging but after the first hour I changed my mind.

One of the great things about double stacks is that you can donk off a bunch of chips early and still be alive come break time. At the first break I was still alive but sitting in 19th out of the remaining 22 players. But after the break I went on a little rush and was back in the mix.

After irongirl01 finished in 10th we went to the final table with crazdgamer leading the way. Since we had a small crowd only 3 spots paid.

9th Placeweak_player … After becoming a new father he hasn’t gotten much sleep but he was able to make his first final table of the year.

8th Place – PouringReign … Playing in only his 3rd Mookie he made his 2nd final table.

7th Placesmokkee … Final table #2 for the palest guy carrying the name smokkee you’ll ever meet. On a shorty he ran A7 into AJ.

6th PlaceIslandBum1 … 1st final table of the year for IB. He took a hit to his stack after I sucked out with AT vs. his AQ. In the end he lost with JT vs. KQ.

5th Place – TheBlurrr … 1st final table of the year in only his 3rd Mookie. He took QJ up against AK and didn’t hit.

4th Placecrazdgamer … 1st final table of the year. The bubble lasted about 10 minutes until he went all in with QJ and couldn’t connect against 66.

3rd Place – stl_phily … Playing in only his 2nd Mookie the self-described “lurker” made his 1st final table and cashed. He made a move getting pot stuck with bottom pair and couldn’t get lucky on the turn or river.

2nd Place – mookie99 … This was my 8th final table of the year and the third time I’ve finished 2nd place. I just need to develop a craps problem and I could be a young TJ Cloutier. One of these days victory will be mine.

1st Placea10419 … Final table #4 and his win ever! After taking 2nd place last week (while chopping the cash) he made another strong run and this time finished things off. Having a much easier opponent this time around helped but he had to come back from a 48K vs. 29K deficit to take it down. Congrats to the Pirate!

The Dookie ResultsWe were able to scrape together 7 players for The Dookie which was Turbo Razz. Even with the small crowd and quick structure no one wanted to leave and it took awhile before we finally lost someone.

Slowly we lost a couple more and after willwonka finished on the bubble the final 3 money finishers remained.

3rd PlaceMike_Maloney … Poor guy was rivered twice by me for big pots.

2nd Place – mookie99 … What kind of host would I be if I won? Plus I’m working on my TJ image.

3rd PlaceSchaubs … He ran over me heads up. Congrats on the win!

Thanks again to everyone who played last night, I’m looking forward to another deep stacked Mookie tourney next week.

  1. thx for hosting. i wouldn’t worry about the mOOk taking alot longer cuz of the double stacks.

    donks will be donks.

  2. Whatever, if you can’t handle being rivered, then you need to get the hell away from Razz. It’s pretty much expected in that game.

Again, nice comeback in the Mook last night. Especially 3-handed coming back from a mere 4,000 in chips to retake the chip lead. Hell, you had it locked up until a10 sucked out on you with his OESD on the turn.

And like smokkee said, shouldn’t take a whole lot longer. Either way it still becomes a shorty push-fest at the FT. :-)

  3. I think the double stacks are here to stay.

Mike, Thanks it was fun making it deep last night.
