Alas, Friday
Another week almost in the books and an upcoming weekend with little to no poker on the schedule. Tonight I’ll be stuck at work having loads of fun installing Microsoft patches. Yea me. Hopefully things will be calm enough for me to donate in the rebuy tournament Kat hosts on Full Tilt every Friday night.
Tomorrow will be spent watching the runts play a little soccer followed by some last minute Mother’s Day shopping. Mrs. Mookie will be going solo over to Jim/Stacey’s place for some poker while I sit this one out and load up the kiddy clan and head to the mall. Some of the other bloggers have commented on child rearing earlier this week…I’m old school and use Bernie Mac’s advice…”beat ‘em till the white meat shows”.
Don’t forget to sign up for the latest Bracelet Race AlCantHang has setup on Full Tilt this Sunday. This one is open to one and all so sign up and try for your shot at a WSOP seat. Here are banners for both men and women…
Speaking of banners, here is a bounty banner for DDionysus/PokahDave…
I’ve been tagged by a couple folks for the latest meme going around…”Seven Random Things”…so here you go in no particular order (some of these are things I’ve mentioned before, but I was too lazy to think of something else):
- I’ve faked it before. Not at what you think…I’ve never been a very fast runner and was scared to death when my jr. high track coach had me run the 100m since someone else got hurt. I told myself as long as I didn’t finish last all would be well. The gun sounded and within micro-seconds my opponents blew past me so I did the only logical thing in mind…feign injury. I hit the track and pulled at my calf muscle like I had the world’s worst cramp. I guess at the time I would rather not finish then finish in last place.
- I was a preacher’s kid. We moved to Texas when I was in 4th grade so my dad could become the associate pastor at a Baptist church just NW of Austin. Like AlCantHang, I attended and graduated from a Baptist school.
- I was a thief. According to Ernie Zampese and Buddy Ryan. They sued me and a couple friends for supposedly “stealing” their football playbooks and selling them on the Internet.
- I have hurt my junk. Not just in poker…In 3rd grade I was racing my bike against 4 or 5 other kids down a long steep sidewalk and the kid in front of me crashed setting off a 5-bike collision. After limping bowlegged and crying my way home my parents took me to the emergency room to be checked out and I can’t think of another time where I have been that embarrassed.
- I was a championship basketball coach. At a private 1A school coaching varsity girls basketball. Thanks largely to some great players including one who broke scoring records in Texas, in the five years I coached we made it to the state tournament 4 times winning 2 state titles.
- I’m an IT nerd by day. And a suave, cool guy by night. Yea right. The minute I leave work the last thing on my mind is computers, technology, etc. One of these days I’ll figure out what I want to do when I grow up and chase another “career”.
- I was a metrosexual. Back in the day I used to iron every piece of clothing that I would wear except my undies and socks. I spent twice as much time on my hair as Mrs. Mookie and used probably as much hair product as JoeSpeaker. Before we had all 5 kiddos a lot of moolah was spent at places like Banana Republic. Mrs. Mookie still thinks I’ve kept some of those traits and has bet me $1,000 that I won’t let my hair grow long. We’ll see.
